SOME INDIAN COLUMNISTS PLEASE

I have been reading your magazine for the past six months. Yes of course, I didn’t get to read each and every issue given the political environment in Nepal. This is undoubtedly a world class read which covers wide issues every fortnight. We must be thankful to the entire team of the magazine for the privilege to get our copy of such an excellent reading material. The excitement truly builds on reading the columns of renowned economists like Jeffery Sachs, Paul Krugman, Joseph Stiglitz and not to forget the one and only Noam Chomsky. The only thing requested is a column from our very own Indian writers like Amartya Sen and Jagdish Bhagwati.

Ever since T N Seshan changed elections in India from an electoral exercise to a multi-faceted operation, involving massive mobilisation of police & paramilitary forces, elections in India have become an example for other democratic countries to follow. And for those who used their money and muscle power to turn polls in their favour, Election Commission’s (EC) stick made them mend their ways. Then, be it Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar or West Bengal, the kind of effort that EC puts in the elections deserved it praise not only in India but all over the world.
